midweekupdate via iPhone v.12

I've been all over the place with being off of work last week and other life happenings.  More posts soon related to my dear friend's wedding coming up next weekend and all the crazy things we're going to do leading up to the day of.  With the summer winding down I'm hoping to dedicate more time to finishing up my online store and launching it!

Friday

home office//happy friday!

I would die for an office as cute as this. Wishful thinking!  Thanks Apartment Therapy for the eye candy.

Uh-mazing. My day has just been made by discovering this adorable website with tonnes of free creative goodies!  Thanks Carly, who linked me here from her blog. I'm definitely going to be taking advantage of all the fun stuff available.

what is bu? launch party

I'm happy to be a sponsor for the what is bu? launch party happening on Saturday.  My friends Steph and Rose of Crywolf Clothing are hosting this event to launch their latest product called "bu".  Check them out, or better yet come to the Gladstone on Saturday for the event!  I've donated fun feathery pieces of jewellery for their raffle prizes :)

Wednesday

dad dates.

Nothing better than starting off summer than a yummy dinner at your local eatery and seeing some talented musicians at a great venue with your sweet pops! I love dad dates.

My sister and I got grilled chicken sandwiches with caramelized onion, brie, and roasted red peppers, and Dad got the homemade Roxton burger.  Beverages consisted of a spicy caesar, Mill Street Lemon Tea Beer, and the Roxton's local beer, Roxton Red. YUM.

We saw Sondre Lerche with opener Kishi Bashi. Love.

Monday

back to reality

I've been a little MIA lately, but sometimes I need real life breaks.  Here's what I've been up to (via iPhone):

Escaping to New York City. <3

Making the most delicious meat-veggie lasagna

Meeting and falling in love with my dear friend Adriane's new son Ben, aka my newest little nephew :)

Watching my friends slay fires in cottage country

Reuniting with friends over cold beverages

Busting out spring time lip colour (MAC Laquer in "Veneer")

Enjoying homemade turkey burgers in the sun

Painting my toes gold (aka disco toes)

Listening to music that makes my heart wrench

Tuesday

spring fever

May is one of my favourite months of the year....mainly because of the Cherry Blossoms!  Last night I took a stroll with Joanna through High Park in Toronto to get some photos.  I think everyone had the same idea as me because it was packed....which kind of ruined the vibe for me, but I got some pretty pictures anyway...

Monday

I love you mom!

I hope everyone had a lovely mother's day, most specifically the special moms in my life!  My amazing friend Adriane, who JUST became a mama on Friday (what a great gift), my sisters who are mamas, my step mama, and of course my very own mom!  I spent the weekend escaping from Toronto to visit my mom up north and relax.  I would say like most families, we celebrate with food, so here would be the brunch I made for us.  Pumpkin french toast, bacon bowls (yes you heard that right) filled with scrambled egg, oven roasted hashbrowns, and fresh fruit.  I'm pretty sure we were in a food coma for the rest of the day but it was sooo worth it.

Saturday my dear friend Christina and I ventured to Canada's Wonderland...yes we're 25 years old and yes we enjoy rollercoasters and playing midway games. I haven't seen Christina since December because for the majority of the year she lives in London.  We actually didn't go on that many rides, but mainly just walked around talking, catching up, and soaking in the amazing weather we were blessed with for the day!  The park is still closed, but open on weekends for corporate days (which made for less crowds and small lineups!)....a little perk of working in the office life!

Saturday

[ FAT ] Day Four - Dress Code

Day Four.  Definitely the most exciting of the days, as they usually save the most eccentric designers for the end.  The turn out is also the biggest because it's the closing show, so that usually calls for a pretty big party!  I just love working with Make Up For Ever products.  Over the past few years they have really re-branded themselves and come out with some amazing new products (personal faves: HD foundation and Aqua Black eyeliner....yum!)  I finally got some light at my station which made the touch ups a whole lot easier, and I think drew in more people in general.  My good friend Jenn tagged along for the evening and we had a blast!

I'll leave you with a few photos:

The makeup area of backstage

Cutest Jacquie..aka my former boss all dressed up for the Royal Wedding! Ha ha, love you!

Miss Jenn....my lovely "model"/sidekick.

Some bright lights on the products! I love colour.

Showing off my skills...hah.

Evening entertainment doing a sound check.

Friday

[ FAT ] Day Three - Fashion/Unfashion

Day Three.  Due to unforseen circumstances I had to miss Day Three of the show, but I'm back for Day Four and plan to take plenty of photos to make up for it! :)

Thursday

[ FAT ] Day Two - Natural Currencies

Day Two.  Again a lot of rain, and zero lighting (really praying for some for Day Three).  Ate that piece of pizza backstage that I told myself I wouldn't, whoops (after all, what's the point of going to bootcamp if you're going to sit all day at your office and then wolf down pizza? hah). The runway models had such a pretty look for Day 2.  It was this bronzey/gold/glittery highlighted eye/face that was just gorgeous!  It kind of made me wish I was doing makeup backstage, because I don't think any of the guests in the media lounge would let me cover them in glitter.  But I guess you never know.  Included are just a few shots before the room got crowded!

 I love this magazine.

This is where the musical entertainment would perform between runway shows.

Actually the most comforable chairs!

After 1 day, we need a vaccum.

Instagram makeup station!

A few guests in the media lounge.
